It is difficult to handle, transport, store and utilize in its original form due to the high moisture content, irregular shape and sizes and low bulk density. Densification can generate products with uniform shape and sizes that can be more easily handled and thereby reduce cost associated with transportation, handling and storage.
Transport cost may be the main item in the cost structure if attention is not paid to this necessary production step. This is why it has to be carefully documented: price and capacity of truck to collect raw material and products including loading & offloading.
The transporting carbonized and ground-up material is the cheapest option, preferable to transporting finished briquettes. Consequently, briquettes should be produced closed to where they are used. Moreover, briquettes are generally not very resistant to transport.
